True North Therapeutics is our licensed producer name, which is the legal entity authorized by Health Canada to produce and distribute medical cannabis. Recover Cann is our patient-facing brand — it’s how we present our products, services, and support to you. While the names are different, they represent the same team and the same commitment to quality, care, and compliance.

To become a patient, you’ll need a valid medical cannabis prescription from a licensed healthcare practitioner. Once your medical documents are complete, you can register with Recover Cann. If you already have an active prescription and a licensed producer, please follow these steps to transfer your prescription to us.

Recover Cann currently supports CAF Veterans and active-duty members who have a valid medical cannabis prescription.

At this time, Recover Cann is Veteran-exclusive.

If you are a Veteran looking for a clinic, please contact patient support to discuss your needs so that we can help connect you with a Veteran focused clinic in alignment with your needs.

Veteran patients are asked to bring a copy of their Summary of Assessment (SOA) to their initial clinic appointment. This can be found in your “My Vac Account” which your case manager should be available to assist you with.

Typically, your clinic will send over your medical documents within 24-72 hours after your appointment. Once received, Recover Cann processes these documents on the same day to avoid any further delays.

No. There is no cost to register or maintain an account with Recover Cann.

Yes. Recover Cann is a medical cannabis platform, and a valid K # and prescription is required to place orders.

While cannabis is legal in Canada, medical and recreational cannabis are regulated separately. A prescription is required to access cannabis through the medical system.

A medical prescription allows you to:

  • Access medical-grade products
  • Potentially receive tax-exempt purchases where applicable
  • Have higher possession and purchase limits
  • Ensure your use is guided by a healthcare practitioner based on your medical needs

Recreational cannabis does not offer these medical benefits or protections.

You'll need to book a renewal appointment with your clinic. If you need help arranging this, Patient Support is happy to assist.

If you are eligible, it may be possible to increase your prescription and coverage. Your clinic will then guide you through eligibility and assist with submitting the required paperwork to your licensed producer.

Your licensed producer will then submit your medical documents to Blue Cross to apply for your coverage.

Yes. If you already work with a clinic, we can coordinate with them to book your appointment. If you don't have a clinic, we're happy to help you find one.

Yes, prescription transfers are possible. Please follow the steps in this document:

Medical cannabis refers to cannabis used under the guidance of a licensed healthcare practitioner. Even though cannabis is legal in Canada, medical cannabis and recreational cannabis are regulated separately, and a valid prescription is required to order through Recover Cann. A medical prescription may also provide benefits such as practitioner oversight, higher possession and purchase limits, and tax exemptions where applicable.

The endocannabinoid system, or ECS, is a system in the body involved in regulating things like sleep, pain, mood, digestion, and more. The body naturally produces endocannabinoid-like messengers, and everyday habits may either support or dysregulate this system.

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds found in cannabis. Some common examples include:

  • THC – may support pain relief, but can also cause intoxication and temporary impairment
  • CBD – non-intoxicating and often chosen for its calming and supportive properties
  • CBN, CBG, and CBC – other cannabinoids that may play a role in sleep, mood, focus, and overall support

Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in cannabis and other flowering plants. Some common examples include:

  • Linalool – often associated with calming notes
  • Pinene – often associated with alertness and focus
  • Myrcene – often associated with deeper relaxation
  • Limonene – often associated with brighter, citrus-forward mood support

If you would like to learn more about terpene profiles and how they may shape product experience, our team is happy to help.

Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome, or CHS, is a condition associated with regular or long-term cannabis use that may involve severe nausea, repeated vomiting, and abdominal pain.

If you develop persistent nausea, repeated vomiting, or unexplained abdominal pain while using cannabis, stop use and seek medical attention promptly. It is also important to speak with your healthcare provider.

These labels are still commonly used, but they are no longer considered a reliable way to predict how a product will feel for every patient. A better way to understand a product is by looking at its cannabinoid content, terpene profile, format, and overall formulation.

No. Higher THC does not automatically mean a product will be more effective. A product’s cannabinoid profile, terpene profile, format, and formulation can all influence the overall experience. The highest THC product is not always the best choice for every patient.

Begin with a small dose and increase gradually over several days. This helps you find symptom relief while minimizing side effects. This is especially important with oral products, as they can take longer to take effect.

Some cannabis products use nano-emulsion technology to help cannabinoids disperse more evenly, which may allow the effects to be felt faster than with standard oral products. These products are sometimes described as quick-onset or fast-acting, but timing can still vary from person to person.

This depends on the product format:

  • Inhalation – may begin within 5–10 minutes and may last 2–4 hours
  • Sublingual formats – may begin within 5–10 minutes and may last 2–4 hours
  • Oral products – may take 1–3 hours to begin and may last 5–8 hours
  • Topicals – may begin in about 20 minutes and may last 2–6 hours
  • Suppositories – may begin within 15–60 minutes and may last 4–8 hours

Different product formats are absorbed differently by the body. Some quick-onset products are formulated to work faster than traditional edibles, while other oral products may take much longer to be felt. That is why it is still important to start low and give each product enough time before taking more.

Common medical cannabis formats include:

  • Inhalation – dried flower, pre-rolls, vapes and other concentrates
  • Oral Ingestion – oils, capsules, and edibles
  • Sublingual – strips or sprays
  • Topical – creams, lotions, intimacy oils and bath products
  • Suppositories – rectal and vaginal

Cannabis topicals are generally considered non-intoxicating when applied to intact skin and are not typically associated with the psychoactive effects seen with inhaled or ingested THC products.

Cannabis topicals are generally understood to act more locally at the skin level and are not typically intended to enter the bloodstream in a way that causes intoxicating effects. Patients should always use products as directed and speak with their healthcare provider if they have questions.

Possible effects include dry mouth, dizziness, fatigue, increased heart rate, or temporary impairment. Some patients may also feel anxious or uncomfortable, especially with higher doses of THC. These effects often improve with dose adjustments. Please know that effects and results will differ for everyone.

Try to stay calm and remember that the feeling will pass. It can help to:

  • rest in a safe, quiet, and familiar place
  • stay hydrated
  • take slow, deep breaths
  • distract yourself with something comforting, like music, a familiar show, or light stretching

Some patients also find CBD supportive in these moments.

Yes. Cannabis may interact with certain medications. Patients should speak with their healthcare provider or pharmacist before starting or adjusting cannabis use.

No. Cannabis may not be appropriate for everyone. Patients should speak with a healthcare provider before use if they:

  • have a history of psychosis, schizophrenia, or mania
  • are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • take prescription medications
  • have experienced cannabis misuse in the past
  • have experienced persistent nausea, repeated vomiting, or symptoms concerning for CHS

Product selection should be guided by a healthcare practitioner familiar with the patient’s medical history. Licensed sellers can provide product information but cannot offer medical advice. If patients need help understanding product categories or formats, our team is happy to help with general education.

Recover Cann offers a range of medical cannabis products, including dried flower, pre-rolls, edibles, beverages, extracts, vapes, concentrates, and topicals, depending on availability.

Keep products in their original packaging, stored in a cool, dry place, out of sunlight and reach of children and pets.

Yes. Some cannabis products may affect coordination, reaction time, judgment, or alertness. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel impaired.

We do not recommend mixing cannabis and alcohol. Alcohol may increase the effects of THC and can make unwanted side effects feel stronger, including dizziness, nausea, and impairment.

A few helpful basics for new patients:

  • start low and go slow
  • use cannabis in a safe and familiar setting
  • remember that inhaled products work faster than oral products
  • stay hydrated
  • do not mix cannabis with alcohol
  • keep a journal of your experiences
  • give oral products enough time before taking more
  • stop use and seek medical attention if severe nausea or repeated vomiting develops
